Wild Goose Pagoda
The story of this towering pagoda begins with a holy man named Xuanzang, who spent nearly two decades walking the Silk Road from ancient Xian to India. Along the way, he collected Buddha statues, relics, and holy sutras and eventually returned to build this dedicated pagoda for them—funded by Emperor Gaozong (628 – 683). The pagoda’s first construction included five stories. It now has a total of seven, and all around the structure, you’ll discover delightful gardens, parks, and excitements for free, including Asia’s largest musical fountain at the North Square.
