When I was a child, the stories of Jonah and Pinocchio occasionally got blended together in my mind--the part about being swallowed by a whale. The wooden boy and Geppetto? The fleeing prophet? I would wonder what I would have done, floating inside the sea-monster, wondering if I would escape... Walking through a park in West Seattle, I came upon this unexpected pedestrian bridge--curving 'ribs!' I was instantly transported, back inside the whale of my inner four-year-old's imagination...
