The Christmas Market, or Weihnachtsmarkt, at the Gendarmenmarkt plaza is one of the city's most scenic. Located directly in front of Berlin's concert house and in between French and German Cathedrals, the backdrop at Gendarmenmarkt is majestic. The center of the Gendarmenmarkt square houses a statue of the famous German poet Friedrich Schiller. While the Christmas Market is open, a stage plays host to carolers and live music.
Entry to this Christmas market isn't free (only 1€) and so it's sometimes less crowded than the others. The Gendarmenmarkt Weihnachtsmarkt is open from the last week of November until December 31.
