Watarrka National Park is another significant stop for any Outback tour of Australia. Known as Kings Canyon, the canyon itself is 100 meters high above Kings Creek. The 6 kilometer Rim Walk takes 3-4 hours and begins with the "Heartbreak Hill," a very steep section of the trail. Below is the Garden of Eden, a watering hole, ideal for cooling off after the strenuous hike.
As with many other sites in the Northern Territory, it is significant to local Aboriginal tribes, so going off of the paths and the taking of rocks are discouraged. Be sure to bring plenty of water, a wide brimmed hat and sunscreen on your visit to the national park.
