An imposing structure on the banks of the River, Wat Kalayanamit has stood as testament to the Buddhist faith for nearly 200 years. Although the temple itself was built in the traditional Thai style, structures flanking the main temple reflect Chinese aesthetics, and monks’ prayer sessions are held in Sanskrit instead of Thai. Visitors are welcome to enter the temple and view its 15-meter-tall limestone and gold leaf Buddha as well as give merits to monks in exchange for blessings.
