Waisali Rainforest Reserve

Covering the hills and valleys north of Savusavu, this 120-hectare (297-acre) reserve has the ambiance of a tropical rain forest. Reachable on foot or via a 15-minute drive, it’s home to a varied range of exotic birds, flowers (30 species of orchids live here), trees and plants, some of which are used in local medicines. A meander along the paths reveals waterfalls, natural pools and terrific views of the forest and Savusavu Bay. Guided walks are also available.
