Being a wine enthusiast in the Grand Tasting Tent is like letting a five year old loose in a candy store. There are five opportunities throughout the course of the weekend to discover all that the Grand Tasting Tent has to offer it is recommended to pace yourself for maximum delight and exposure. Wagner Park, a rugby field in downtown Aspen, is entirely covered by giant white tents with a courtyard in the middle where FOOD & WINE Classic showcases the newest model of the official car from Lexus. The courtyard is also the place to find much needed bottled water to stay hydrated, which is countered by the Patron shots that are served right next to the water. Under the tents there are what seems like thousands of wine makers exhibiting their product. When you first walk in it is almost intimidating at how many wines there are to choose from but then you slowly start to zig zag your way around the tent and you get into a groove. A word for the wise, if you like a particular wine that you tasted write it down or note it somehow because after the two hour extravaganza everything starts to blend together and you will forget that favorite wine you had at the beginning.
