For an inside look at one of the best preserved historic homes on the island, visit the Verdmont Historic House Museum in Smith's Parish. This Georgian-style residence built in 1710 is the flagship of the 88 historic properties managed by the Bermuda National Trust. Incredibly, it remained a private residence until 1951, when it was sold to the trust, and it was never significantly changed, modernized or reconstructed. Today, you can walk through the house exploring the original parlor, drawing rooms and bedrooms, complete with period furniture, English porcelain and Georgian silver from the 1700s.
