Getting to Utila was pretty easy, just be prepared for the airport at the island. The airport is little more than a tin shack and a very short runway that ends in the ocean at both ends.
The trip to Utila lodge took us through narrow streets lined with small shops and a theater with about 12 seats.
Diving off the coast of Utila was breathtaking! Clear blue water was a big change from the cold waters of Wa. State.
Lots of big creatures and small ones too if you take the time to look. The night dives were surreal - wave your arms and the phosphorescent plankton create a sheet of light that quickly fades. Stingrays and turtles abound. The lunch breaks and surface intervals are on small islets that can walked all around in less than 5 minutes. Coral reefs and a few ship wrecks are within easy reach of dive boats.
