Ushuaia

Regarded as the southernmost city in the world, the busy port of Ushuaia has had a colorful past that includes its time as a missionary hub, a penal colony and a naval base. Today it’s a major tourist attraction, complete with casinos, hotels and restaurants, and is used as a convenient base for hiking and skiing as well as for cruises to Antarctica. Highlights include the fascinating End of the World Museum and the waterfalls and forests of Tierra del Fuego National Park. From the water, the town is a striking jumble of colors against a stunning backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
