From Here to the Moon
Huntsville is the birthplace of the United States Space Program and where the Space Race was won back in 1969, when man first went to the moon and returned safely home. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is the world's largest space museum and has been welcoming students, families, Trekkies, and space enthusiasts from around the world for decades. And for good reason: where else can you see the Saturn V lunar rocket vehicle that landed on the moon, the Apollo 16 command module, a full-sized Space Shuttle mock-up, touch a moon rock, and be catapulted up in the air to experience zero Gs, all before lunch?
There is no doubt that Huntsville, Alabama is a city filled with great restaurants, nightlife, shopping, and days worth of things to do, but nothing is more famous than the attraction that pays homage to the reason why it is even on the map.
