Uda Walawe National Park

Uda Walawe's star attraction is its large herds of elephants that roam among its grasslands, forests and marshes. Don't miss the chance to see the Elephant Transit Home, supported by the Born Free Foundation, where orphaned elephants are rehabilitated and then released back into the wild. Visitors can observe the elephants only from a distance, which is more beneficial for their welfare. The park is also a bird lover's heaven: The waters of the Uda Walawe Reservoir attract serious numbers of endemic and migratory birds.
