The Ucluelet Aquarium closes each year around December and reopens in the Spring. Before their hiatus, they release all their species into the bay and invite the public to participate.
The aquarium's staff was incredibly friendly and our kids had a great time carrying the different species in their buckets outside to the dock. It was raining pretty hard that day so we weren't able to release them ourselves, but the volunteers were so patient with the kids and made sure the kids could see their bucket being released into the wild. After a few rounds of that we headed back inside for some hot chocolate before taking off.
If you happen to be coming to the area around December, check their website for their release day and remember to bring buckets!
