This type of sweet, mainly made of durum wheat samolina, olive oil,stuffed with dates, deep fried in oil and soaked in honey syrup. Is the most famous sweet in Tunisia. Basically those made in Kairouan, as the city is known to be the cradale of this rather sweet losange.Sometimes with sezame seeds or almonds. Tunisians, to show their hospitality would offer "Makroudh" along with minth tea, or with Arabic coffee.
Nearly found in all Tunisia, but the best ones are in the medina of Tunis, Le Kef and In Kairouan.
