a few of my buddies and I rented a beautiful hacienda in Troncones, Mexico not long ago. first day was amazing.. great waves right in front of house. beautiful pool overlooking beach, amazing Mexican style house, fans blowing cool air...pearl jam etchings on wall from their stay the year before... all went downhill from there as a storm moved in, rained torrentially, killed the electricity and fans then got deathly hot with Mosquitos eating us alive. the pool turned into a mud swamp of black death only enjoyed by the spawning Mosquitos waiting to pounce on us. the ocean turned muddy and sadly the waves turned to mush!! we were stuck in the place as roads got flooded... it was like we were on the moon! no, it was like were on a humid hot moon with mosquitoes the size of small birds! then a buddy's bag was gone through and wallet was stolen and cash stolen which turned out to be the houskeepers' son. did not get money back but only a admission of guilt by the young boy. our week of surf heaven turned into a hot, sweaty, bactine ridden, arm slapping, young bandido, no surf fiasco!! we left back north staring out the airplane windows fantasizing about warm surf, cold cervezas and swinging hammocks~. looking back, I would do it all over again as I love Mexico, and it's about the adventure, fiasco or no fiasco!!
