Trolltunga (Troll's Tongue) is a challenging hike in Skjeggedal, Norway. It is one of the most rewarding hikes I have ever done. It wasn't crowded and the views were incredibly beautiful. It took us about 5 hours to reach the ledge of the Trolltunga and the entire hike took us about 10 hours. Often people do it in 8 hours, but we took our time.
Tips: We did the hike in late July and the weather was great. I would definitely recommend checking the forecast before setting out, and also be sure to get a ride or drive to the head of the trail. We were camping in Odda at the time and tried to get there via public transportation but the bus doesn't take you close enough to the start of the hike. Wear good shoes, pack food, water, and layers as the climate and terrain changes throughout the hike. At one point we were walking through snow in shorts but it would get cold quickly when the sun went behind the clouds. You can refill your water from waterfalls once you are high enough, and camping is possible with your own tent.
A challenging hike, you'll need sturdy hiking boots, extra clothing, map and compass and enough food and water. There is no cell phone coverage.
Contact the Odda Tourist Office for more detailed information about the hike, accommodation, and maps.
