The last weekend of every month, Treasure Island lives up to its name with a flea market that showcases antique, vintage, and artisan finds. The island, which is part of San Francisco, hosts hundreds of local vendors along a stretch of pavement near its western waterfront. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday you can shop for everything from recycled ship-wood furniture and heirloom jewelry to letterpress stationery and handmade bags. Take a break from strolling through the stands and learn how to make a terrarium at a DIY workshop. Then refuel with lunch at one of the food trucks that line the adjacent Great Lawn, where you can also listen to live music.
Depending on what you intend to haul home, you can plan your transportation accordingly: The 108 Muni bus stops at the market, and there’s free parking nearby. Admission is $3. The market’s website sometimes offers a deal like two admissions and two food truck specials for $20.
