Travaasa Austin
Overlooking sprawling Lake Travis, amid rugged Texas Hill Country, Travaasa Austin is equal parts eco-resort, wellness retreat, and outdoor adventure getaway. Thirty minutes from the city center, its philosophy is more that of a rural farm than an urban-adjacent escape, but every luxury expected by discerning urbanites has been accounted for. On its 210 acres—only 34 of which have been developed—are a working organic farm with livestock, two farm-to-table restaurants, a natural spa and saltwater infinity pool, an Outward Bound–designed challenge course, and miles of hiking trails, among other things. With a rotating schedule of every class and activity imaginable, it’s like summer camp for adults—if summer camp included vegan options, Barre classes, and stylish private rooms with balconies.

Neighborhood Vibe
Overlooking Lake Travis from its perch amid the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, the resort is a 30-minute drive from downtown Austin and provides everything needed for a relaxing, adventurous getaway, from outdoor activities to spa treatments. But there’s plenty to do in the area, off those 210 acres. Lake Travis is a destination unto itself, with rocky beaches to swim off of, scenic ziplining courtesy of Lake Travis Zipline Adventures, and the most spectacular sunsets, best caught over a drink at The Oasis.

Insider Tips
Who's it best for: Adventurous couples and friends looking for a luxurious, alternative getaway.
Our favorite rooms: All rooms have a luxurious, modern Western style and private balconies with expansive views, but the most dramatic vistas are from the Canyon rooms, which overlook the rolling hills of Texas Hill Country.
Explore the property: As if the wellness-focused schedule and events like bonfires and Texas Two-Step dance lessons weren’t enough, Travaasa Austin opens up its organic farm to guests. Feed chickens, learn to identify edible plants, and pick fruits and vegetables on the three-acre farm.
