I was more than happy to stumble upon this little restaurant while strolling down Monkland Avenue in NDG neighborhood. As soon as I saw the word Australienne on the big white sign, I was sold.
Once inside I couldn't decide what kind of pie would I take home. The cashier was kind enough to guide me and recommended the traditional one: the steak, bacon and cheese pie. Let me tell you that this have been the most delicious, savory and mouth watering pie I have ever tried, and I'm not exaggerating. I became an addict to these pies that I stopped cooking for a week and just took home several frozen ones. There are veggies, beef and chicken pies, as well as sweet little treats like rum balls, Anzac biscuits and mini sweet pies.
There are two locations, one in Parc Avenue in Mont Royal neighborhood and the other on Monkland Avenue in NDG.
