Looking to save on that carbon footprint? (Okay, maybe you need to save some cash too!). Well, VIA Rail is a great way to get across Canada.
I recently took Canada's train from Toronto to Montreal and it was a great trip! The train will be a bit more expensive than carpooling but if you can't afford the flight, the economy option is a great alternative. If you're a business traveler, VIA has wi-fi and tables where you can sit across from your colleagues and work.
VIA definitely has its traditions: during dinner, the staff give you a mini chocolate mousse cup for dessert; you also get an aperitif (Baileys, please? Oui, Oui, s'il vous plait!).
Staff are quite friendly and attentive in business class and though the train ride can be long, it's a nice way to see Canada's landscape and catch up with a great book. Dreaming and wandering? Isn't that what travel is all about?!
Do subscribe to their newsletter as they tend to have great sales that can make your cross Canada adventure more affordable. And if you're looking for a way to travel across the Rockies in Western Canada, this would be it (from all the rave reviews I hear).
