Just in case having a chance to watch a Space Shuttle launch wasn't enough to get the adrenaline pumping, a couple of days later we went kayaking through the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Surrounding the Kennedy Space Center, this refuge is a beautiful trip and gets you up close with the local wildlife. The people in the kayak ahead of ours are looking off to the right at a good sized alligator sunning on the bank. Yikes! On the same trip we backed into the edge of a lagoon and sat there watching dolphins feeding right in front of us and even right next to us. They chase shoals of fish up into the shallows and have quite a feeding frenzy. Up close and personal with nature always gets the adrenaline going for me, especially when sharp teeth are involved!
