Tieton is an extension of the family fruit biz that has been growing organic apples in the Yakima Valley for 30 years. The operation gets fruit from the Harmony Orchards and brews their ciders in a variety of styles which they blend to create just the right notes from the local fruit. Being the largest grower of cider-specific fruit, Tieton has exceptional control over the characteristics of the beverages they produce. They’ve always been a farm, first, and now the transition into cider is a natural evolution building on their experience and relationship to the land and the fruit it produces. As a craft cidery, the process starts with whole apples; 10-20 tons per pressing. Doing about 120 cases per production day, they’ll do 12K cases in 2015. Everyone involved is invested and skilled in the farming and brewing biz. They do a hopped cider that uses hops sourced in the valley. They also have pears, cherries and apricots add to the complexity. Land that’s been in the family for 95 years provides the foundation and experience producing the highest quality fruit to brew the best craft ciders.
The tasting room is a welcoming environment with style and grace, reflecting the powerful valley that produces the fruits for their labors. There is always a wide variety on tap in the Cider Bar where you'll find live music and special tasting events on a regular rotation. The space is also available for that team meeting that might need a little liquid motivation to get things cranked up.
