The best view of Changzhou, China can be had from the top of the Tianning Pagoda. It's the tallest pagoda in all of China, and, even though the pagoda itself is not there, the Tianning Temple is one of the largest Zen Buddhism temples in China and has been there since around 600 AD. Take a look at the statues and relics inside the pagoda, climb up to the 26th floor (elevator part of the way) to see the 15-ton bronze bell, and wander around the temple grounds. I love the smell of incense and the sound of bells ringing in the wind. Wander over to beautiful Hongmei park to make an afternoon of it. There's also a vegetarian restaurant just outside that is associated with the temple.
