It may be the ambiance here at Tholos, right in Blue Mountain Village, that makes for such an attractive dining spot. Natural stone floors and bar, rustic lanterns, arches that could hold their own in a Corinthian courtyard, photos decorating faux-vine-covered walls that evoke memories of Santorini. The ski hill could be half a world away.
The occasional belly dancer reinforces that sense of virtual travel, and the live bouzouki band on weekends doesn’t hurt.
But it’s still all about the menu. Moussaka, baklava oozing honey. And, for me, two must-dos whether you’ve just got off the hill or just toured the Parthenon: a shot of ouzo and a flaming Saganaki.
