It is perhaps no wonder that the Café Royal has welcomed famous stars of the stage. Within a few blocks of the hotel are some of the West End’s leading theaters: The Prince of Wales, the Apollo, the Queen’s Theater, the Piccadilly, and others. The history of West End Theaters dates back to 1663, with the founding of the Theatre Royal, which is, still active and can boast that it’s been visited by every monarch since the Restoration. Coveted tickets this season include those to two adaptions of tragic Greek works (Medea at the Almeida and Oresteia at Trafalgar Studios), a staging of Eugene O’Neill’s The First Man, as well as a long list of popular musicals from Billy Elliott to Wicked.
