In my return to life in Dallas after over a decade of living in places like Paris, Cape Town and San Francisco, I'm constantly searching for inspiring and artistic venues to support. Walking into The Wild Detectives transported me right back to Berkeley in the best possible way.
Found in a re-furbished 1940's bungalow in the heart of the Bishop Arts District, it's part Barcelona bistro, part East Austin and entirely intoxicating (inside and out). With communal seating and dining areas, this is the place where you'll savor your morning coffee, your post-work brew and the company of others. A wonderful book selection with a focus on artists the owners want brought to your attention and a small selection of vinyl records.
From author readings to music performances, the space was made for gathering. The dreamers and doers behind The Wild Detectives are Paco Vique and Javier García del Moral and with this establishment they've reminded Dallas of just how beautiful and bold a café should be.
