There are so many cute little places to go to in Austria. Here's the one we fell in love with as a family holiday destination; both winter and summer. I almost didn't add it to keep it a secret, but the locals deserve credit for keeping this town quant and genuine. At 1000m elevation there's no guarantee for snow, and with 6 lifts the pros will be bored soon. But with learning skiers the steady slopes offer plenty, including 3 ski schools to perfect your carves.
Après-ski is as good as it is anywhere in Tirol, in the Happy, the Bischofmutze, the Kennedy or other. And for a special experience there's an opportunity to take a horse sleigh ride up to a mountain hut for a great meal (the Kaiserschmarren!) and a Schnaps.
In summer Filzmoos offers the usual alpine sports and a friendly low key atmosphere.
That paired with the view of the peaks of the Bischofsmütze mountain makes for a fabulous holiday close to Salzburg.
