Stately historic hotel in San Diego
The son of Ulysses Grant (18th President of the United States) built the U.S. Grant hotel in San Diego in 1910 and named it after his father. The land for this hotel was taken from the local Kumeyaay tribe in the 1800's, but the Kumeyaay purchased it in 2003, renovated and opened the doors in 2006. This beautiful hotel has stately rooms, large chandeliers in the hallway and tile showers. It is located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Little Italy and the Gaslamp are both in walking distance.
