Find yourself in Lille on a Tuesday night and really want to immerse yourself in the locals and the French language? Sign up for an evening at Franglish! Taking place at the Queen’s Head Pub, Franglish is one of my favorite events to attend when I’ve got the time. Essentially bilingual speed dating (the platonic kind), Franglish allows you to have one-on-one conversations in French with locals who want to practice their English; you switch languages every seven minutes. I’ll admit it’s mentally exhausting, but it’s incredibly rewarding to move through the room meeting friendly, culturally curious people that truly want to help you learn their language! If anything, it’s a great place to brush up on your cool French slang.
You can sign up on their website in order to participate. Best part: the price of admission is just a drink bought at the bar. Don’t mind if I do!
