The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek

Kayaking down Shingle Creek into the cypress forest.
In June of 2014, my friends and I kayaked down Shingle Creek, which is the headwaters of the Everglades. The launch point was near Hwy 192 in Kissimmee, one of the busiest tourist corridors and only 20-minute drive from Central Florida's major theme parks and resort hotels, just South of Orlando. What we found was truly magical. Paddling into the old growth cypress forest area felt like you were going back in time. We later found out it is rated one of the best paddling trails in Florida by Canoeing and Kayaking Florida.
