The OUT NYC

Fiercely Styled in Hells Kitchen
Billing itself as the first "straight-friendly" urban resort in New York City, the Out NYC doesn't disappoint. From its impeccably styled rooms and public spaces, to its on-ground club, bar and restaurant, The Out NYC is everything an LGBT traveler is looking for. But don't let that "LGBT"-adjective scare you off, gay-friendly straight travelers! The Out does its fabulous best to accommodate guests of every walk of life. The hotel is not set-up traditionally. Every room opens onto open air courtyards, complete with cheeky astroturf and comfy "lawn" furniture. Rub elbows with other guests during outdoor film screenings or other events, or just head over to the serene bamboo garden if you have work to take care of. For the budget conscious, there are room options for you! Not unlike hostels rooms, the hotel also offers "sleep shares," available beginning at $79 a night. Think "luxury" hosteling. You get the benefits of a Times Square adjacent hotel without the sticker shock.

The OUT NYC
The OUT NYC is a fantastic place to stay if you're out. But with it's restaurant, spa, outdoor lounge areas and club, it's also a place for people of any orientation to dine out, chill out, hang out, and wild out. I got a tour of NYC's first gay hotel from architect Paul Dominguez, and both his passion & attention to detail were evident in all of the spaces of The OUT- starting with each of the sleek, minimalist rooms that over look one of three themed courtyards. The Sun Deck features a wooden deck & lounge chairs for sunbathing. The adjacent spa has a glass enclosed atrium with a hot tub, cabanas & water feature. The Great Lawn courtyard brings a little bit of Central Park downtown, with bean bag chairs for chilling & a green lawn for playing in the sun. The Secret Garden is a tranquil oasis if you need some quiet time or to get some work done. One of the most interesting features of this hotel is the Luxury Quad Bunk Room. Think the fanciest hostel you've ever been in. Perfect for traveling with a group of 4 friends, these rooms have 4 full sized beds, each with their own personal TV and curtain for privacy and an en-suite bathroom. The hotel restaurant, KTCHN, serves American cuisine in both it's casual cafe and more cozy restaurant area. Across the hall, the XL night club offers schedued events 7 nights a week, so you can go out every single day. Whether you're from out of town, or a New Yorker looking to be out and about, The OUT NYC has something for you.
