Opened in 1919 by French archaeologists, this well-curated museum in Da Nang features more than 300 artifacts from the Champa Kingdom, from altars to likenesses of Shiva and Vishnu. It complements a visit to the My Son temple complex—or at least will give you a taste of the riches there, if you can’t make the side trip. The statuary, sourced from My Son and other sites like Khuong My, Tra Kieu, and Dong Duong, is mostly in excellent condition and beautifully displayed within a French Colonial building. Be sure to rent an audio guide for insights into what’s on view and how it reflects the ancient Cham civilization.
