Holland's little "chapel of miracles" on the Berkenbosch Blokstraat
Since approximately 1914, "the little chapel of miracles" has offered a welcoming place for quiet prayer and reflection to all, of goodwill, who enter from both near and afar. Although it is private property, the Lourdes Grotto, is open daily to the public from 9am-6pm and is maintained by a loyal staff of dedicated volunteers--some, of whom have been residing in the area for decades. They are a cheerful resource for local information and, in fair and temperate weather, can often be found enjoying a few peaceful moments while seated on the park bench located outside the chapel. Mass (French) is celebrated on Sundays and Feast days.
The sacred edifice on the Berkenbosch Blokstraat is centrally located in the heart of The Hague's seaside district of Scheveningen, where year-round activities abound for everyone in the entire family.
The chapel contains a unique 1:13 scale replica of the Lourdes Grotto in Massabielle, France, one of the most visited pilgrimage sights in all of Christendom.
