The Greenwich Hotel
On a charming corner of Greenwich Street in TriBeCa, the Greenwich Hotel is a sophisticated downtown Manhattan property owned by actor Robert DeNiro. Since opening in 2008, this boutique hotel has earned a reputation for its discretion (only a small sign signals the entrance), offering the type of service and privacy that attracts celebrity guests. No two of the 88 rooms are alike; the design is unfussy, and pleasantly understated. Keep an eye out for abstract expressionist paintings by Robert DeNiro's father, Robert DeNiro Sr., throughout the hotel. Spacious bathrooms—finished in Moroccan tile or Italian Carrera marble—are a highlight of the rooms. Start your stay with a swim in the lantern-lit swimming pool before sipping a pre-dinner cocktail in the guests-only drawing room, complete with a fireplace. The hotel is also home to neighborhood favorite Italian restaurant, Locanda Verde.

Neighborhood Vibe
TriBeCa is a relaxed downtown neighborhood with cobbled streets and interesting boutiques such as Matt Bernson Shoes. Nearby dining options include wine bar and wine shop Maslow 6, cozy restaurant Smith and Mills, and refined Greek food at The Greek. Hudson River Park is a short walk away, and both SoHo and the Financial District are within easy walking distance. Owned by actor Hugh Jackman, Laughing Man is a favorite neighborhood coffee shop, and Aire Ancient Baths is a hidden-away bathhouse.

Insider Tips
Who's it for: Design-conscious travelers looking for a discreet hideaway or an artistic, romantic retreat.
Our favorite rooms: No two rooms are alike at the Greenwich Hotel, but some have extra-deep soaking tubs (Greenwich, some Deluxe Greenwich) and private saunas (Studio Suite). The Fireplace Corner Suite has a working fireplace, flanked by comfortable leather chairs.
Room service: Since a table at Locanda Verde can be hard to come by, guests can take advantage of room service. Locanda Verde will deliver dinner straight to your room.
