Located on Wealthy St. near the Eastown neighborhood, The Electric Cheetah is a must-eat place for those who love mac and cheese, pub worthy sandwiches, and especially root beer. Other places offer extensive beer menus, but here you will find an extensive root beer menu along with some varieties on tap.
The menu boasts names just as eclectic as the restaurant itself. Try and order the "Lil' Pickle Tickle" without laughing or the "Ding Dong on a Bing Dong." Younger brothers who want to come out from older brothers' shadows (or older brothers tired of taking responsibility for younger brothers) should try the "I'm NOT My Brother's Sandwich." It might take some extra time to read through all the options, but it's all part of the experience. Don't forget to place an order of russet or sweet potato fries and good luck not eating all of them before your food arrives.
The food here is reasonably priced and easily some of the best quality in town. They focus on using natural, local, and organic products in all their food. While it's in the "hipster" area of Grand Rapids, TEC is family friendly so don't feel obligated to dig that plaid shirt and beanie out of storage.
My favorite? Opting for the Combination Station and choosing the Jive Turkey Salad and the Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich. My root beer of choice is the Salted Caramel, but you won't always see it on the list. Ask your server for it directly instead, no beanie needed.
