Chongqing has been slow to adopt the sprawling neighborhoods of Western cafés and restaurants found in similarly sized cities in China.
But when you're hankering for a sandwich and coffee, head to Jiefangbei. In this dense district you'll find the Corner, a cozy cafė that would fit in in any U.S. town. The waffles and risotto are delicious, while the coffee is average. The comfortable upstairs area more than makes up for any shortcomings, though: It's the perfect spot to spend a rainy afternoon in.
