After four months spent almost entirely in Guangzhou, I spent two days in Hong Kong. Ninety-nine percent of those two days was spent eating. Don't get me wrong--I love the food in Guangzhou. But sometimes I just crave non-Chinese food, and it's hard to find.
Two hours after my arrival, I had already had three plates of food and was full. But then I saw a sign for the Butcher's Club and I couldn't resist its allure.
I'm glad I didn't.
My root beer ice cream float perfectly complemented my duck fat fries in a show of elevated comfort food that still makes my mouth water and my heart nostalgic.
