Late Nights with Low End Theory
For a small, tucked-away Lincoln Heights event, Low End Theory at The Airliner is a cavern and—in support of the experimental south beat record that churns to smoke every time you think you’re finally about to grasp it—has been enjoying a few as of late, growing into the ultimate catch-all event for unfiltered, beat-driven music. The Wednesday night event has become what no other L.A. contender has come close to capturing, offering a weekly showcase of up-and-comers alongside household names in cheap, accessible and carefree fashion. The outdoor space is reminiscent of a friend’s lantern-lit back patio, while the humble interiors and eclectic, simmered-down crowd make way for a different experience every week. Keep in mind, the small venue size and high demand can mean long lines after 11pm varying upon popularity of line-up, and the locale is on the obscure side.
