One of Philly’s most popular autumn attractions, Terror Behind the Walls is a massive haunted house staged inside the Eastern State Penitentiary historic site. Visiting the old prison on a normal day can be pretty daunting and somewhat creepy, with its dark corners, peeling paint, and abandoned prison cells. The prison is said to be haunted and has been featured on many TV shows about paranormal activity.
“Terror” is rumored to be an incredibly scary experience (too scary for me, that’s for sure, although I love to visit the prison during the daytime). Haunted house fans will have the time of their lives and (if they should survive), they’ll be back again next year for sure, as the organizers promise that it gets bigger, better and scarier every year. This event was included on Forbes Magazine’s list of 10 Great Haunted House Attractions across the US.
Shows take place after dark (of course) from September through November and tickets must be purchase in advance, as the shows do sell out. If this sounds too frightening for you, consider a tour of the historic prison during its regular daytime hours.
