A Visit to Tequisquiapan
When I was a kid growing up in Querétaro, only people from my home state knew about Tequisquiapan. It was where you went if you wanted to visit a picturesque town, but with the guarantee that you would find decent lodging.
In recent years, however, Tequisquiapan has become well known in the tourist circuit due to a Wine and Cheese Festival. Although it was first celebrated in 1976, the touristic boom began after Spanish winemaker giant Freixenet established its vineyards in the nearby town of Cadereyta.
