We didn't realize what we had gotten ourselves into when we committed to biking to the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. We started in Ubud, with rented bikes and a map. And up we went. Literally, up. The ride gets quite vertical. We had to stop and ask for directions a couple of times too. But it was absolutely stunning. We had an off-the-beaten-track glimpse into the country lifestyle that tends to get glammed up when in Ubud, and we saw genuine countryside along the way. It was a very green hour and a half. Our destination was the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, and though very touristed, I'm sure it's apparent that they are stunning. And, it was only a 30 minute downhill roll home!
