Two Brothers Motorbike from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City: Part One The Idea
"It was the Nightmare after Tet and all through the Guest House. Not a creature was cooking not even a Mouse. The water soaked stockings were hung by the heater with care, in hopes that Ho Chi Minh City soon would be there." When I first decided to live in Vietnam, I did my homework. I went to libraries, book stores, and travel centers, to research the country with a war torn past that I would soon be living in for over a year. However, the most entertaining and memorable piece I came across was the British Show: Top Gear specifically the TV Special in Vietnam. If you haven't seen the special I would highly recommend it! In the episode they each had a few million dong to get from Saigon to the Capital of Vietnam, Hanoi. It was a fantastic challenge that was adventurous, fun, and entertaining. I remember thinking to myself, I WANT TO DO THAT! After a half a year of living in Vietnam an opportunity came my way to do just such an adventure. My company needed to move personnel from the Hanoi base to the Ho Chi Minh City base and I was one of the lucky few selected to move. The one catch was if I wanted to do this trip it would have to be done in FIVE days. It would become a series of days that are simply unforgettable and unimaginable for anybody expect My Brother and I.
