Takshanuk Mountains
Located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, the Takshanuk Mountains offer fresh alpine air and panoramic views of Chilkoot Lake and Lynn Canal—a 144-kilometer inlet that connects Skagway to Haines—and spectacular waterfalls. Instead of hiking, many visitors prefer to take a 4-wheeled ATV up Mount Ripinski for views from its 450-meter summit. Depending on the time of year, you may find wild blueberries growing and see bears and bald eagles.
