Taka’eeba

20 ش طلعت حرب، وسط البلد، Qasr an Nile, Cairo Governorate, Egypt

Taka’eeba is one of Downtown Cairo’s most famous and beloved coffee shops. This traditional ahwa is set on al-Nabrawi street, just outside Townhouse Gallery, and is popular with the artsy crowd. It’s chill by day but gets rammed by night, and while the shisha is mediocre at best (ditto the service), the atmosphere and people-watching is second to none. Oh, and it’s dirt cheap, even by Cairo standards.
