Surrounded by three holy mountains, Tagong lies in lush grasslands with many grazing yak abound. Prayer flags drape fences and many hillsides giving Tagong an incredible feel. The smell of all things yak permeates everything and will remind you of Tagong long after you leave. You can take private taxis out to the sites, which includes a sky burial ground and nunnery, but hiking lets you take in the immense greenery around you in the grasslands. if you get tired and speak a little Mandarin or Tibetan you can easily get a ride back to town on the back of a friendly Tibetan's motorcycle. Extremely competent riders, the ride back makes for a great way to take in the scenery. Plus, how many times in your life will you have the chance to ride bitch on a Tibetan guy's bike?
