Most restaurants have a standout item, and Tacubaya is no exception. Their chicken tacos are the stuff of dreams; bright and juicy with a hard shell that doesn't crumble (thanks to a splash of broth) but still yields a satisfying crunch. There's often a line out the door for this and my second favorite taco, the al pastor, made the right way, with marinated pork slow-roasted on a rotating spit. Go on Tuesdays or weekday afternoons from 3 to 5, for their special, 2 tacos and a beer for $8.75. Once down the hatch, you'll be fueled to shop the eco-chic, artisanal-filled boutiques lining 4th Street.
