Sunda Kelapa Harbor

You'll have photo-op overload at this picturesque port bobbing with colorful phinisis—the Buginese boats originally inspired by Portuguese ships. And indeed, Sunda Kelapa Harbor operated under Portuguese and Dutch control at points during its 500-year history. Sailing ships call in here from all across the archipelago today. And as you stroll around you'll see all manner of cargo—lumber, spices, coal—being unloaded from the elegant wooden schooners.
