Located across the way from the regal Half Moon Resort, Sugar Mill Restaurant is equally fabulous. Set on the grounds of an old sugar plantation, tables are set on an outdoor, covered terrace or on a gorgeous lawn where couples can dine by candlelight under the stars, to the sound of a turning, ancient waterwheel. When I was there, I was eager to capture the magical surroundings but equally captivated by the top-notch service and the Caribbean fusion menu. Try the Coconut and Saffron Poached Snapper Fillet, or the Boston Jerk Brochette. Attracting an upscale clientele—no denim or shorts here—this restaurant is one of a kind. Don’t miss sampling a bottle from their well-stocked wine cellar, visible on the way inside. For special occasions, call ahead to reserve that table for two, tucked beside the wheel.
