There are hundreds of great wineries to scope out in Sonoma, Dry Creek, and Napa Valleys. For those of you that don't want the typical tourist-laden spots, Stuhlmuller Vineyard is way off the beaten path with great ambiance, down to earth and knowledgable tasting room staff, unique wines, and a resident cat. And the view of the Dry Creek valley is phenomenal. The tasting is free with the purchase of a bottle - make sure to try the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. On a weekday in January, when the tasting room isn't too inundated, you might even get an opportunity to meet Leo, the Danish winemaker.
