Strait Shine is Prince Edward Island’s homage to the era of Prohibition and illegal moonshining. Prohibition lasted longer in PEI than the rest of Canada—it wasn’t repealed until 1948—and the province played an active role in illegal shine production and its illicit shipment to the United States. At the eastern end of the island, overlooking Rollo Bay, Strait Shine opened in 2006 with the goal of bringing the history and spirit of illegal moonshine to life, yet delivering a smooth, consistent, pleasing and entirely legal product. Fermented on-site from pure cane sugar and high-grade molasses, the spirits are distilled through our state of the art copper still and perfectly blended to create the unique character and flavor that is Strait Shine.
